Germany to train Nigeria's security agencies

The German government has offered to support Nigeria in training it's security agencies and also exchange intelligence which will help the fight against insurgency in the northeast.

The offer is an effort to restrain terrorist activities in Nigeria.

The Deputy Minister of Defence of Germany, Dr Ralf Brauksiepe made the decision of the German government known  in Abuja on Monday while delivering a lecture at the National Defence College.

He further stated that the effect of globalisation required effective cooperation of all countries, as terrorism remained a major threat to humanity. He promised that Germany would not cease to support African countries in the fight against terrorism, piracy and other forms of criminality.

The commandant of the National Defence College, Rear  Admiral Samuel Alade, recollected the relationship between Nigeria and Germany, saying it had been mutually beneficial to both countries.
