Man steals 7 months old baby

A 26-year old man is currently been investigated by operatives of the Gender Development of Lagos state police command for alleged kidnap of a seven months old baby.

The suspect who was identified as Happiness Umaru, was caught at Eric Moore in Surulere by policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad(RRS).

When Umaru was interrogated at first, he claimed to be the biological father of the baby but later confessed he found the baby around Ijora Railway, when he entered a nearby bush to answer nature's call.

According to Mrs Patricia Victor(the child's mother), "I laid my baby(Favour Victor) on the bed inside my house at about 8pm and went outside to get food for my older son and by the time I returned with the food, my baby had disappeared. I raised an alarm and my neighbours joined in the search which yielded no results. Unknown to me, the police had arrested the culprit and lucky for me, while investigating, they found me."

The baby has been released to the mother and the culprit will be charged to court today.
