Pope Francis joins instagram

Pope Francis joined instagram today on his third inaugural anniversary as the leader of the world's estimated 1.2 billion catholics.

The 79-year old, chose the username Franciscus, which in Latin means Francis. He posted a profile pic of himself praying and captioned it " pray for me"  which he wrote in English and eight other languages. On his profile was also written, "I want to walk with you along the way of God's mercy and tenderness."

The pontiff posted on his twitter page today " I am beginning a new journey on instagram, to walk with you along the path of mercy and the tenderness of God."
