A 60-year-old woman, Asabi Adebayo has been arrested by the police in Oyo State for buying 5 babies for 5 million naira from a child dealer in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
The woman who hails from Lagos,is a US returnee who had plans to fly the children abroad so she could sell them. She took them to an orphanage in Ibadan first, so as to obtain a certified police report and that was when she was caught.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Leye Oyebade, said the woman would have escaped if not for the wonderful efforts made by officials at the orphanage by reporting to the police.
