The federal high Court in Lagos has convicted 14 foreigners who were identified as citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Phillipines, and Japan, for dealing in Nigerian petroleum products unlawfully.
The convicts were found guilty of dealing in 1,738.087 metric tons of petroleum product without lawful license. 11 out of the 14 convicts were sentenced to two years imprisonment with an option to pay 5million naira each on the counts levelled against them. The other three, were sentenced to five years imprisonment without an option of fine. This is because they had jumped bail and asconded.
