Chairman of NRAN wants UTME cancelled

The National Chairman of the Education Reformers Association of Nigeria (NRAN)  Dr Femi Oyewole, has called for the cancellation of the JAMB - Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted between February 27 and March 17 this year.

At a seminar organised by NRAN in Lagos, Oyewole while speaking said, thousands of candidates who would have secured admissions into various higher institutions this year would be denied of such opportunities if the examination remains valid.

Oyewole said that NRAN would be heading to the National Assembly next week to challenge the exam and persuade the lawmakers not only to cancel it, but also to move a motion for JAMB dissolution.

He expressed his bitterness saying JAMB was no longer relevant to the education system as it used to be but rather, it extorts candidates and their parents. He stressed that every institution should be allowed to conduct it's own entrance examinations, as it was before.

He further said that the debate on the issue that JAMB results should be used for three years is not necessary. He also said the right thing to do is to dissolve JAMB.
